Keyword Discovery
Keyword Discovery is pretty much the new kid on the block in online keyword research websites. It is similar to Wordtracker® in that they are both an online service. Keyword Discovery however has a much larger secret data base that they pull their keywords from.
You can go here to see the site.
Billions of Keywords
KeywordDiscovery.com is the only Internet resource of its type to offer a searchable database of over 32 billion search queries, archived over a 12 month period. It enables advertisers and search engine marketers to effectively target keyword based advertising, providing advanced keyword research and analysis of search trends.
Keyword Discovery pulls their data from almost 200 search engines. This will give you a good well rounded view of how your keywords are used in search engines.
Charts and Graphs
Sometimes it is easier to view data in a graph or chart. This is especially true if your looking at data for a particular keyword that spans a one year period. You can view the data for a whole year in one chart and see it's hot and cold periods. A time saver if you are checking a large number of keywords.
Another plus for Keyword Discovery is its ability to show you where your particular keyword is being used. It will also show you what percentage of the market is using your keyword in question; Yahoo, Google, MSN, and Ask. Good to know for PPC campaigns.
Regional for Yahoo
Another nice feature is the ability to find out regionally where your keywords are being typed in so you can target these areas. This uses the overture search which I thought was abandoned. Perhaps Yahoo just wants paying customers because you have tools if you have an account with Yahoo search engine.
The Bottom Line
If you are trying to decide on Keyword Discovery or Wordtracker they are actually two different types of research machines. Keyword Discovery has the advantage of a large data archive(one year back) and a huge amount of data. On the otherhand if you need a more recent list for a faster moving industry like paperback books, CD's or movies you will want to go with Wordtracker. They are both quality sites, so it depends on your needs and of course your personal preference if long or short term search data isn't that important to you.
